Your 1920s Blackwood Manor party: what to expect
- Before the party: The purchaser sends the invitation, game link, access code and 1920s dress suggestions.
- Arrival: Guests select a character and read their private profile on their own phone.
- Act A: Everyone mingles, trades rumors and completes introductory missions. The story's dramatic turn remains a surprise.
- The incident: The host reads a theatrical announcement to begin the investigation.
- Act B: Everyone questions suspects, compares timelines and completes new missions.
- Evidence: The group examines clues together before anyone votes.
- Accusations: Each player privately chooses a suspect.
- Clearing suspects and the reveal: The host reviews why suspects can be ruled out, announces the solution and celebrates everyone who guessed correctly.
Set the scene
Dress like it is 1927: flapper dresses, pearls, feathers, suspenders, vests, bow ties, pinstripes and fedoras. Play soft jazz or swing music; decorate with black, burgundy and gold; add battery candles, vintage-style invitations and a photo corner. Serve sparkling cider or other themed drinks. Keep lighting safe and bright enough to read phones.
Host tip: Read the announcements slowly, pause for reactions, and encourage dramatic but friendly conversation. This is a social party game - not a test of acting ability.
